Perhaps they can be convinced to pursue a sale instead.They seem like a perfect match for you and espouse a lot of the same ideals. The membership will be seeking new homes soon, but you might be able to catch it before it's too late.

In Québec, we’re a non-profit organization developing a social media platform with a cooperative governance model (https://www.nouvelleplace.ca/).That means users will also be members — the ones helping shape product decisions, for example.
We strongly believe that creating a localized experience, where each region in Québec has its own space and community, is a real opportunity for local media to reclaim their place and engage in meaningful conversations with their audiences. It’s also a way for users to truly connect with their communities — and with each other.
