Totally agree and love the web as a forest metaphor. The canopy of the tree is also interconnected and it also provides a much better view than the forest floor. Similar, being over the webpage gives a better perspective than on the web. In fact, I will venture to say that the New Digital Public Space is over the webpage. What about a public Id with private info and friend connections as a service and other apps can just hook up to that so that you don't have to reconnect with everyone every time you join a new social network
